The documentary ‘Tales of the grim sleeper’ is a very revealing documentary. This clip highlights many victims and witnesses who have not been interviewed by investigators and makes us wonder how many victims they’re truly are. We will likely never know. When prostitutes are the victims of rapists (including rapist cops) murderers, robberies and serial killers, the general attitude that consistently prevails is that the victims- prostitutes- are sub human; not worthy of the same consideration as other citizens and victims. Sex workers do not feel safe to report. They know they are marginalized (as the ‘no human involved’ description demonstrates) if not themselves arrested. Under criminalization sex workers do not have the benefit of equal protection under law. Predators are very aware of this, very aware that sex workers are usually too afraid to report. Serial killers have outright stated they preyed upon prostitutes because they knew no one would care about them. They are WRONG about that- while it is true that law enforcement and the general public marginalize stigmatize and discriminate against sex workers, sex workers and their allies DO CARE and there is a global movement to establish DECRIMINALIZATION and access to human rights in behalf of sex workers.
